Manila, Philippines — Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) offered a one-day free planetarium exhibit and stargazing sessions to celebrate World Space Week this coming Tuesday, October 10.
World Space Week is celebrated annually from October 4 to 10. It is a global celebration of space, science, and technology and has been recognized by various agencies since the day it was founded in 1999 by the United Nations General Assembly.
“On this occasion, the Philippine Space Agency reaffirms its commitment to fostering domestic space innovations through proactive and agile engagements with Filipino enterprises and entrepreneurs as ultimate value-adders and creators, and as integral to our #𝗬𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗞𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗻,” PhilSA Director General Joel Joseph S. Marciano, Jr. said in a statement.
PAGASA Planetarium, Science Garden Complex in Quezon City, will host the planetarium show beginning at 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; which will highlight the breathtaking grandeur of the universe, solar system, and galaxies under the theme "Space and Entrepreneurship."
PAGASA Planetarium is filled with high-tech and advanced equipment and can accommodate 88 viewers at a time to ensure an incredible experience. They will showcase two different shows with a span of 45 minutes each.
Following the planetarium show, there will also be free stargazing and telescope sessions at the PAGASA Astronomical Observatory, UP Diliman, Quezon City, beginning at 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM They will be accompanied by an astronomy expert who will help the participants in discovering the wonders of the universe.
"Don’t forget to bring your family and friends for an evening of celestial discoveries! Witness distant galaxies, explore our solar system, and learn about the mysteries of space in our state-of-the-art planetarium," said PAGASA.
