It has been a tradition of the newly-elected SSC officers at Lyceum of Alabang as part of their projects to hold its special event, Lyceum of Alabang's acquaintance party. For three consecutive years, the team never fails to leave a sentimental value to the school and the students for their efforts in preparation for the event and how well they organized the event. The students from each of the strands of the Senior High school and grades 9 and 10 from the Junior high school which also represent the theme of the night; "9 shades of grey", come to gather and enjoy a night full of occurrences. The attendees feel the vibe as they witness the undying talents of selected students and troupes performing their hearts out and have their excitements burst out through their cheers while witness the performance of two of the most popular bands in the Philippines. This annual event is infallibly memorable for the students in Lyceum of Alabang.
John Jewel Fornea, Tweetee Parantar (SHS students), Sir. Kenn Mago and Ms. Aizel Natal (Faculty members) are the Masters of ceremonies of the event. These people never fail to entertain the crowd along with their contagious smiles. They never leave the atmosphere of the audience empty throughout the whole event. The program starts with an invocation and the singing of the National Anthem followed by a warm welcoming remarks from the Basic Education Directress, Ms. Charito F. Cano. Yen Lizarda, the President of the com-select heads the oath-taking of the newly-elected SSC of the Senior High School and this batch swore that they will use their positions for the sake of their fellow students and the good of all. Along with it, they are expected to fulfill the year with fun events and educational activities.
It is never unusual to witness an amazing performance of LOA's very own ALTA dance group and as the event continues, the troupe gives a spectacular show carrying their choreography and signature moves, stunning the audience despite of them constantly being part of different events of the school.
Selected students from Junior high school give their hearts out as they perform on stage and the undoubtedly talented selected students from each strand have special participation in the program proving how talented Lyceans are through their intermission numbers. And, as appreciation, the organizers of the event give awards to the performers of the strands who outshine the most in their performances and who really give the GREYtest show.
Aside from the students being incredibly talented, Sir. Jethro Gajo from the PE faculty department and Sir. Paulo Terosero, a former faculty member at Lyceum of Alabang who also worked in the same department, the JET-PAO's duo, proves that teachers from Lyceum of Alabang can also outshine and that they are more than just teaching and molding students.
The night has also been graced by two of the most popular Filipino bands. December Avenue performs their greatest hits; Bulong, Sa ngalan ng pag-ibig, Kung di rin tayo sa huli and other heart-warming songs leaving the audiences struck and bursting with enjoyment. The TLJ staff are lucky to get the thoughts of the said band concluding that this is not the first time they performed in a school and they like the vibe of Lyceum of Alabang. Silent Sanctuary gives their performance of the night singing some of their big hits; Kundiman, Ikaw lamang, jump and many other compositions while audiences rocked out to their music, sing along and dance to their heart's desire.
The Alay ni Sheng band performs some of the famous Green Day hits after witnessing the mind-popping performance of the famous Filipino bands and surprises the students as they see one of the faculty members of Lyceum of Alabang, specifically in the English department, Sir. Eric Paulin. He goes up stage, grabs his drumsticks and accompanies complex beats on their music.
Like any other parties, it would be very dull to end this event without a rave party revealing the 9 shades of grey's surprise guests, Mc Fame and Holi Blasters as they encourage the crowd to get wild, jump, go extremes to their heart's content and dance through the beat and jam produce by the said DJ's.
The night will always be one of most memorable nights that LOA could ever make possible. This is also a reminder to the students of Lyceum of Alabang that they deserve to rest from all of the stress they encounter in school and that they should enjoy being a Lycean as well. The SSC must continue to be true to their words so that the students can expect more events as reminiscing as this one.
