Synopsis: Yves promised that he will find Ayumi in their next life. Ayumi, who is not fond of this kind of thing, followed him in the afterlife after days of Yves dying. As years passed they met again, with the same names and same face. Will they remember each other? Can Yves fulfill his promise?

“For you, I will,” was the last words Yves said before dying in my arms.

If only he told me that he was sick. If he only told me that he only has days to live. If only I knew. I cried remembering our last conversation.

“I will find you,” Yves hardly said, trying his best to reach my face.

“You can’t! That’s impossible!” I was crying my heart out. My whole body was numb.

“For you, I will.”

I wasn’t in my best state after days. It was his parents who arranged his funeral. I couldn’t bear to look at him. I couldn’t live without Yves; so I followed him.

-

I woke up feeling uneasy. I was sweating all over my body even though the aircon was open. I looked around just to see if the sun had already risen. It was still dark so I assumed that it was early in the morning. I got up and went to my mirror. I touched my face just to realize that I was crying. My dreams were always like that but this was the first time I shed a tear. I didn’t remember half of my dreams but it always end with me dying.

“Ayumi, dear?” my mom softly said as she entered my room. I wiped my tears and smiled at my mom who looked very worried.

“Yes?”

“Oh, are you okay? I was supposed to ask if you can go to the store? We ran out of stocks…”

“Yeah, sure!”

“Are you sure? You look like you’re not feeling well,” she said. She softly caressed my cheeks.

“I’m fine, mom. Just give me a minute.” I kissed her cheeks and immediately went to the bathroom. I needed fresh air and going outside to buy stocks was a blessing in disguise.

As soon as I finished, I went outside so my mother wouldn't ask me questions. I already knew what to buy and I had my own money to buy what was needed. I decided to take a walk since the minimart was just two blocks away.

“I’m hungry,” I muttered when I saw a food stand. I checked the time and it was still early. I still have time to spare.

“Can I have this,” I pointed. “and that,” I added.

“That would be a hundred peso.” I nodded and touched my pocket. But my purse wasn’t there! I turned around and there was no sign of my wallet.

“Miss, can I fi-”

“I think this is yours?” I turned around and saw a man who was oddly familiar. The way he looked at me was a familiar feeling. Where…no… when did I see him?

“Yes, thank you,” were the only words that I uttered when I had so many things to say. I took my purse and gave the money to the vendor. The guy was still here beside me.

“Ayumi?” I turned my head back at him. He was smiling ear-to-ear!

“Huh? Did you call me?” I asked, panicking.

He smiled again. “No.”

I raised an eyebrow and turned my back on him. I crossed the street without knowing that there was a speeding truck.

“Watch out!” He pulled me back and I fell straight into his arms.

Was it weird that I felt comfort?

“I did not choose to wait for you for years just to see you getting hit by a truck, Ayumi.”

I looked at him, with my eyes wide open and my mouth fell slack. I was dumbfounded.

“I found you didn’t I?” He asked.

“W-what?” My head was throbbing. I had so many questions in my mind but I couldn't utter a single word. The dreams flashed to my mind and finally saw a clearer version of the man’s face.

Yves.

He smiled as if he knew that I already knew what was happening.

“I told you, Ayumi. For you, I will.”
