The game is afoot once again!

'Tis her! She is back! Young detective Enola Holmes returns in the newly released Netflix movie— Enola Holmes 2.

Enola Holmes 2 is a Netflix mystery film directed by Harry Bradbeer and written by Jack Thorne, based on the novel by Nancy Springer. Alex Garcia, Ali Mendes, Mary Parent, Paige Brown, and the star herself— Millie Bobby Brown, all produced the film. After the success of the 2020 film Enola Holmes, this sequel premiered on November 4th, 2022, starring Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes, Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, and Louis Partridge as Lord Tewkesbury. The movie lasts for 2 hours and 9 minutes.

After the events of the Tewkesbury case, Enola started a detective agency, desirous of getting the same recognition as her brother— the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. The film follows the case of a missing matchgirl named Sarah Chapman, which Enola investigates without hesitation. While Enola is facing various challenges, like outrunning the police, Sherlock is working on a case of mysterious theft led by someone who calls themselves Moriarty. Later in the film, Enola, Sherlock, and Tewkesbury team up as they find that their investigations are linked, solving both cases. After solving the conflict, Enola once again opens her detective agency. As for Sherlock, his chase with Moriarty doesn't stop there.

Enola Holmes 2 is not your typical detective-criminal chase. It is a mind-puzzling, thrilling film that will keep you on the edge of your seat through the entire story. The film also showcased the misogyny women faced in the Victorian era, which still reflects the misogyny women face today. The filmmakers based the film on the Matchgirls' strike in 1888, too. And while the film focuses on Enola's journey to find Sarah, the filmmakers also effectively made Sherlock's case play a crucial part in the plot. The interactive script of the film also made viewers feel like they were taking part in Enola's story. The subtle hints of comedy to ease the tension are worth mentioning too.

The film's creativity and camerawork are also stunning. The camera angles and lighting highlight important details, and the filmmakers' attention to detail in props are incredible. For example, as Enola sneaks into the match factory's office in the earlier parts of the movie, she sees a matchbox full of red matches. As stated in the film, it's been two years since the matches changed from red to white and two years since an illness called "typhus" emerged and killed matchgirls. This detail indicates that the men running the factory know the fatal effects of the white matchsticks.

The details of each setting emphasize the film's atmosphere. The soundtracks and sound effects bring more life to the film, influenced by its background and period. And, of course, the ever-amazing cast of Enola Holmes 2 once again gives us a phenomenal performance. Now having more screen time, Henry Cavill astonishes everyone playing his role as Sherlock Holmes. Millie Bobby Brown never disappoints either, as she proves herself once again as 𝘵𝘩𝘦 actress of the new generation. Louis Partridge also gave us a spectacular performance with his charming aura.

Overall, this film is worth rewatching. It gives its viewers an exciting experience that makes them think. If you are fond of mysteries and adventure but do not want the typical detective-criminal chase, this movie is for you. The film was indeed a great addition to the number of good films that came out this year.
