Chapter 1

There were all kinds of stories out there in the world, but the tale of the evil and good swan queens had yet stood to be unheard. It is said that this could be considered a bloody one, about greed, corruption, and just how much power can be abused once it gets into a person’s head.
Once upon a time, or not even long ago, there were once two kingdoms: The Kingdom of Light, and The Kingdom of Shadows. They were anything but similar, and have always been quite different.

The Light Kingdom, by its name, was good and kind. Ruled by a peaceful swan queen who loved all her loyal subjects and believed in equality for everyone. Her citizens simply adored her so much that none of them wanted to move out of the kingdom to continue being under her reign. The good queen was simply a delight and everybody was treated equally, with fair rights and freedom. But all good came with evil, for a few miles from the Light Kingdom was the Shadow Kingdom, ruled by a selfish and greedy swan queen, the opposite of the ruler of the Light Kingdom.

The evil monarch was as cruel as can be and incredibly corrupted by her power over the land. Anyone who was under her reign was guaranteed to have a life full of suffering, and struggle.
Nobody was ever safe if they were under her reign. All her subjects simply despised their ruler but they knew it would be off with their head if they so much as spoke out against the evil queen. The citizens were banned from ever moving away from the kingdom without any approval of the government or even the queen herself. Therefore, regardless of how much they hated their ruler, they would never be safe.

However, for as long as the two kingdoms stood, they both lived in, not harmony, but peace and mutual understanding. Despite their differences, none of the rulers who took over had ever called war or attempted to fight the other. Not once had they caused any trouble for the other kingdom. Albeit, they did not have a “friendship” or an alliance either. The two kingdoms were only there. They acknowledged each other’s existence but did not seem to care. Some scholars even found it hard to believe that they did not fight.
However, this tale is not about the peace between the two, for that peace would cease to exist once the daughters of the two queens ascend to the royal throne.
