Examinations are part of a student’s life. It is one of factors that the academic institutions identify to measure the knowledge obtained by the learners and if they are really learning. Of course, every student wants to earn good or high grades—it is like the profit of their hard work. A famous phrase among the Generation Z that has become a very used phrase for them, “High Grades Cutie”.

According to a New York Times article, the urge to succeed is a major source of stress for American students, as per numerous researchers. Maintaining grades, studying for more than 8 hours a day, reviewing on weekends, and many more sacrifices a learner makes to fulfill his or her good grades. Different academic tests comes for different preparations, but how can you say if you’re doing good enough to ace your examinations?

Small habits, Good Habits

Keeping the fire burning—waking up early, going for a walk, making your breakfast, or doing your simple morning routines are small habits that give a big impact. Having these programs in yourself is a best example for your study habits. As per an article by Rappler, one of the tips on studying is doing Note-taking. This habit of taking down notes will help learners to attain information quickly and them having a material to look back on. Exercising or having a good workout before studying is a must because as shown by research, physical activity causes the brain to generate proteins that can enhance cognition and help you remember things better. Doing the same good things will result in a great impact as your body and mind are trained to live with it.

Rest to Reset

Lawrence Epstein, MD, medical director of Sleep Health Centers in Brighton, Mass., stated in an article that sleep deprivation affects how a student performs in class. Doing anything with no sleep or not having energy at all is like a waste of time and will mostly ruin your day—as you cannot have the spirit to be productive. In Princeton Review, it was stated that “Sleep still matters”. Having a healthy sleeping routine is one of the tips. Giving yourself a break from what you are doing is helpful, as it gives your brain time to breathe.
A simple mobile phone that gets low battery when being used for hours and needs to be charged for it to work again, just like how humans work. For a human to be able to properly function, it's necessary to have enough sleep and energy.

Time is Gold

Time management is in play when it comes to studying. One wrong move in time management, you may lose the game. Preparing ahead of time will be your booster as it means you have the time to sort out your schedule. Princeton Review said that figuring out how much time you need to study to stay on track is a great skill in studying.
Doing many things at once results in chaos as your mind becomes rattled. Having a schedule will guide your brain on what to do first and the next one. In this case, you can track your progress and the things you still need to work on. Having the visuals will set your mind and give the best sight on your agendas.

Fuel of Motivation

What keeps you going? Having a reason or motivation in studying is what fuels the fire to keep burning. Having study groups that can help you to study efficiently for an exam, stated as one of the tips in Princeton Review. Every person can have their own motivation. It can be their friends or loved ones. But there are also those who reward themselves after accomplishment as a motivation. What keeps someone motivated also answers the questions “Who are you getting up for?” or “What do you get up for?”.

With this, studying proves that it is not an overnight agenda. It is a long process that requires hard work and focus. Good study habits can greatly help students, but there is one thing that can be the missing piece to a puzzle to complete an effective study— having discipline. It is your three-point shooter in your game that will totally bring you to victory—getting "high grades cutie" on your examinations.
