Work hard paid off! That’s how Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) section Amaziah felt as they took home 3 champion’s titles in various categories of awards on their culminating activity on May 31, 2023, held at Lyceum of Alabang Gymnasium.

"Amaziah, bonggang bongga, narito na, hey hey!" DVA Gym was filled with their chants and noises by Amaziah as their section was announced as the Champion 3 times.

Champion: Promotional Video

Champion: Best in Chant

Champion: Festival Dance

They performed Masskara Festival, which was choreographed by MJ Bechachino and Lloyd Capardo— two of the best dancers in the group. While, promotional video was edited and directed by Pauline Tabamo.

It was a roller coaster experience from section Amaziah, especially on the day of the competition.

"Truthfully, I believe that it's the lack of financial resources that has challenged our section during our strand culminating activity. When we were planning for our costumes, and props to be used, each of us can only give so much for it, which led us to make our costumes and props ourselves instead of buying or renting it. On the day of the event, I, personally was intimidated by other sections' grand costumes and props. They were all well prepared hours before the event started, while we were still busy sewing our costumes, fixing our props, and assembling our newly painted backdrops. Yet, we kept our head high and focused on giving our highest energy in our performance. Indeed, it is not the resources that carried our victory, but our hardwork and teamwork as a section." Kryztelle Tugado stated during the interview that when she was asked what other groups have that they don’t.

Andrea Navarro, one of the members of the production team, said that moment was nothing but a treasure.

"I feel like everything has been paid off, especially as a part of the Production Team. Those sleepless nights and tiring days na sinasagad namin katawan namin to work and paint. From pamimili ng materials sa Divisoria, pagbubuhat ng malalaking karton at pintura, at 'yung pagtravel araw-araw sa place na pinaggagawaan. Inaabot kami lagi ng 6 a.m. sa paggawa ng mga props and costumes tapos papasok sa school na wala talagang tulog. I can say na, it's all worth it. Sobrang worth it lahat ng pagod, walang tulog, stressful moments, at pag-iyak. This winning moment is a must treasure— full of hardships yet full of life lessons din for us. We all did great and I feel so proud of them."

Meanwhile, Class President Mishi Nicole Leonardo was extremely proud and believed that this win was not just about the certificate or recognition; it was a celebration of the strength of our section and a reminder that together, we can accomplish anything we set our minds to.

"As the President of our section, I am incredibly proud and elated to announce that we have emerged as the overall champion of the Culmination Activity. It is an extraordinary feeling to witness the hard work, dedication, and talent of the whole Amaziah pay off in such a remarkable way. The countless hours of planning, preparing, and rehearsing had finally paid off, and the feeling of accomplishment was simply indescribable. The sense of accomplishment and fulfillment is truly overwhelming. Witnessing the smiles, cheers, and tears of happiness on the faces of my fellow classmates was an incredibly gratifying moment. This victory is a testament to the unwavering commitment and collaborative spirit that exists within our section, despite of the conflicts, challenges and shortcomings we had. It does not only validated our hard work but also solidified the bonds we had formed as a close-knit community. We have demonstrated our ability to come together, leverage our individual strengths, and achieve greatness as a cohesive unit. Winning this contest not only affirms our abilities, but it also serves as a testament to the exceptional caliber of individuals that make up our presentation as a whole, as "Amaziah". It is an honor to lead such a talented and resilient team, and I am profoundly grateful for their outstanding contributions. This victory will undoubtedly inspire us to reach even greater heights in the future, and I am excited to see what lies ahead for Amaziah as we continue to excel and make a lasting impact."

“It is indeed challenging to be a choreographer; however, we are motivated by a desire to encourage and inspire our classmates to reach the same goal and succeed. We hope to ignite the spark of motivation within individuals by providing knowledge, direction, and encouragement, inspiring them to push their boundaries and reach new heights. Witnessing their development and seeing them conquer obstacles gives us a sense of fulfillment, knowing that we played a role in their journey to victory. Our ultimate motivation stems from the great impact, instilling tenacity and resilience as we traverse the road to success.” Group choreographers—MJ Bechachino and Lloyd Capardo added.

These people believe that coming together and supporting each other is the ultimate key to a successful outcome. It is not about how many big costumes you have or how many resources you have; it is about standing and believing on their own. You could, so you will.
