As we enter Senior High School, it is also the time for students to prepare for college admissions. 

While we prepare our requirements for applying to schools, and reviewing for our upcoming College Admission Tests, we should also know that there are many scholarships being offered from the government and private institutions. 

After all, for incoming college freshies, our financial needs are extremely important during our college life. 

Here are some scholarships you may apply and some general information about the programs:

𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 
Incoming 1st year college students may apply in this scholarship program and there are no qualifying examinations. 

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
• Must be a Filipino citizen
• For a full scholarship program (Php 30,000 per academic year), GWA must be 96% and above.
• For half scholarship (Php 15,000 per academic year), GWA must be 93% but not more than 95%.
• Parents/Guardian must have a combined gross annual income that does not exceed Php 400,000. If it exceeded, applicants must show written certification or medical findings of illness of family member. 
• Applicants should only avail on 1 government-funded financial assistance program [1].

Required documents for the CHED Scholarship include, a certified true copy of your birth certificate, certified true copy of High school report card for incoming freshmen eligible for college and grades for Grade 11 and 1st semester of Grade 12 for graduating Senior High School students, latest income tax return of parents or guardian, certificate of tax exemption from the BIR, and certificate of indigence from your Barangay or DSWD [1]. 

𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽
This program only selects a limited number of students to be accepted in the scholarship because of their highly competitive exam. This scholarship prioritizes students who pursue science and technology related courses [2].

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
• Must be a Filipino citizen
• At least 85% GWA in High School transcripts
• Enrolled in a science and technology related college course
• No other scholarship grant
• Have a good moral character
• Family annual income of not more than Php300,000.

Required documents needed for DOST Scholarship includes, NSO-issued birth certificate, certificates of leadership experience and extra-curricular activities, High-school diploma or transcript of records, income tax return of parents or guardian, and letter of recommendation from 2 individuals such as teachers.

𝗦𝗠 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽
It grants applicants who are enrolled in their priority courses, and they can enroll to their desired school but in specific locations in our country.

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
• Grade 12 graduates from public and private schools in the areas covered
• If applicant is from private school, applicants must have a DEPED voucher and completed Grade 10 in a public high school
• At least 92% GWA for Grade 12 in 1st semester.
• Annual household income of Php 150,000 or less [3].

Benefits of SM Scholarship includes, full tuition and other school fees, part-time job opportunities during Semestral and Christmas break, programs and activities sponsored by SM, and receive job offers with the SM group.

Documentary requirements includes, latest income tax return of parents/guardian, latest Grade 12 report card, birth certificate, 2 copies of recent 2x2 ID pictures, and sketch of residence to a nearest SM Mall.
