𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦: "Gilas Pilipinas soars against Jordan, securing the country's 4th gold medal" by Sophia Cassandra Durado

Gilas Pilipinas finally reclaimed the crown after 61 long years by defeating the world's top 32, Jordan, in the 19th Asian Games Finals, 70-60, at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in China on Friday, October 6.

Justin Brownlee allotted a massive 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals in order to lead the country to victory. Alongside Brownlee is Ange Kouame, who scored in the crucial moments of the game; also bagged 14 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.

The Philippines kept its distance from Jordan since right at the get-go, ending the first quarter with a 5-point gap; however, Jordan gained momentum with a 14-1 run and tied the score in the second quarter.

The third quarter is the Gilas moment as they scored a 14-4 run to break the tie and gain the lead. Jordan continued to miss their baskets and shoots 4 out of 9 attempts from the 3-point line.

Philippines was challenged right back, as the veteran Hollis-Jefferson delivered 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists to support his team, added by the pressure of the crowd, which favored Jordan and cheered for them.
