In a thrilling play by both strands during the 20th Founding Anniversary of Lyceum of Alabang, the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Strand conquered the court against the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Strand and earned the championship title in the Men’s Volleyball Competition with a finishing set score of 3-1, held at the Danilo V. Ayap (DVA) Annex Gymnasium, on October 26.
In a short interview with a STEM representative from the team about how they won the match, “Tiwala lang sa kampi, sa sarili, ngiti lang sa game at maging positive lang,” stated
Another representative from STEM added, “Para sakin, laro lang. Okay lang kahit matalo, ang goal lang talaga namin is maglaro and mag-enjoy, ayun lang.”
During the finals match held on October 26, HUMSS overtook STEM in the third set, outscoring them with a score of 25–18, marking a set of 1-2; however, their last attempt faltered at the end, as STEM triumphed in the battle against HUMSS, securing a final set of 3-1 with a score of 25-21, clinching the champion’s title.
In the first set of the match, the STEM strand took down HUMSS with a score of 25-20, claiming their first set. Following the second set, STEM still prevailed against HUMSS with a winning score of 25-21, leading them to a 2-0 set.
Moreover, the STEM Men’s Volleyball Team was honored and earned their well-deserved gold medals during the Awarding Ceremony on November 8, signifying a notable achievement for the team. The HUMSS Strand who achieved the silver medal, while Home Economics (HE) was given the bronze medal.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) was handed to Mark James Oliva from STEM; while the Mythical Six was awarded to John Michael Aguila (STEM), Lance Atienza (STEM), Mark Angelo Torrevillas (STEM), Julius Cadiena (HUMSS), Donald Vailoces (HUMSS), and John Carlo Milaor (HE).
