Carlos "Caloy" Edriel Yulo bagged home one gold and one silver medals in two different events in the recent 16th FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup held in Doha, Qatar, last Saturday, April 20.

 

Two-time world champion Caloy Yulo first performed in the vault finals and won the silver medal; he scored 15.066 and fell short to Armenia's Arthur Davtyan, who scored 15.166. Yahor Sharamkou of Belarus, with 14.749, came in third.

 

Caloy first scored 15.333 on his first vault attempt, followed by 14.800 on his second attempt.

 

Yulo then secured gold in the next event, the parallel bar finals, where he scored 15.200 to reign ahead of Chinese Taipei’s Hung Yuan-Hsi with 14.966 and Brazil’s Caio Souza with 14.566 in the parallel bars.


In the qualification round of the parallel bar, he ranked second behind Uzbekistan’s Rasulkon Abdurakhimov. In the final round, Abdurakhimov finished fifth with a score of 13.933.

 

Yulo is one of the three Filipino gymnasts who are qualified for the incoming Paris Olympics 2024, along with Aleah Finnegan and Levi Jung-Ruivivar.
