Former mayor of Bamban and wanted Chinese spy by the Philippines, Alice Guo, was previously arrested on September 4 around 1:30 AM in Tangerang City, Jakarta. Department of Justice (DOJ) and Director Jaime Santiago of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed her arrest.
Guo has been chased by the national authorities internationally since her exposed escape to Malaysia on July 17, before going to Singapore and then Indonesia, where she was arrest as Senator Risa Hontiveros verified her date of departure from the Philippines.
Following Guoสผs arrest, her presence was being expected by the Senate in the next hearing after her flight back to the Philippines, which President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stated to be as early as on Wednesday, September 11.
“Inaasahan ko ang pagharap ni Guo Hua Ping sa hearing ng Senado sa lalong madaling panahon. We appreciate the National Bureau of Investigationสผs commitment to turn her over to the Senate once she is processed,” Hontiveros stated after showing gratitude to her sources in Indonesia.
“All of those who are implicated… in assisting Alice Guo to leave the Philippines illegally as a fugitive from justice will certainly pay the price,” Marcos declared in an ambush interview during briefing regarding the casualties of Typhoon Enteng.
“Ang tanong niyo, sino สผyung sisibakin? Hindi lang namin sila sisibakin, kakasuhan pa namin sila dahil ang kanilang ginawa ay labag sa batas at against all of the interests of the Philippine judicial system,” he followed.
Previously, on July 13, an arrest warrant for Guo was filed on after her constant absences in the Senate hearings, which was regarding her alleged involvement on the illegal activities by Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO).
Accusations on Guo include protection of human trafficking syndicates and scams in the disguise of online casinos in her municipality, which she consistently denied in the hearings she attended before her disappearance.
Marcos also made a statement to the Philippine government officials regarding the punishment of those who aided Guo in her flee.
