At the height of chaos fueled by Red's power, Home Economics (HE) strand dethroned Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand in the Volleyball Finale for both Men’s and Women’s teams, clinching the championship title on October 26, at the Annex Gymnasium.
In an interview with The Spiracle, Women's Volleyball team captain Keith Genesis Vibal shared the team’s sense of fulfillment, “Syempre, kinakabahan kaming lahat, lalo na't finals, dahil matinding laban na ang pinaglalaruan namin, laglagan kumbaga. Kaya lagi namin isinasaisip na kaya namin 'yun.”
Vibal, speaking on behalf of the team, expressed their mixed emotions after the victory, with some players feeling emotional and others overjoyed.
Meanwhile, the team captain for the Men's category, Gerald Panuelos, expressed his joy on behalf of the team after winning the finale, “Syempre po, masaya. Kasi naibalik na namin 'yung korona sa HE department, kasi last year, ang HE ay 2nd runner-up lang. Bale, sobrang saya po namin; umaapaw po siya kasi binalik na namin 'yung korona. Although andun na 'yung pressure, pero ginawa na namin 'yung best.”
In a thrilling back-and-forth battle during the Men's Category, HE triumphed over ABM with a final score of 3-2, creating a close and exhilarating atmosphere.
Despite ABM taking the lead in the 1st and 4th sets, HE rallied back to clinch the game.
Panuelos delivered a short yet striking quote, "Nilaban namin, kumapit kami, nagdasal kami."
During the spike-powered match in the Women's Category, HE wrapped up the game against ABM with a final score of 25-17, winning the match 3-1 overall, despite the opposition's dominance in the third set.
Nylraine Padillo, a player from the Women's category, said, “What I personally thought is that despite the hardship and pressure of balancing winning and having fun, we’re thrilled to have reached the finals. Overall, it was an amazing battle against STEM and ICT. It’s too bad we didn’t get to face HUMSS or GAS-IA.”
She also stated, on behalf of the team, that they felt great pride and honor in winning and representing their strand, Home Economics, and they were thrilled to defeat a strong team like ABM in the finals while also competing against STEM and ICT.
Despite having only a limited number of training days, Padillo said they valued the opportunity to connect and grow closer together.
