MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon-turned-severe tropical storm Nika is projected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday morning or afternoon, November 12; while two tropical cyclones to monitor are "Ofel" and "Pepito."
The severe tropical storm will move into the West Philippine Sea by Monday afternoon or evening, according to a forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Before Nika exits, the tropical depression "Ofel" is expected to enter the PAR on Tuesday.
It will steadily strengthen as it moves across the Philippine Sea and could reach typhoon status before making landfall in northern or central Luzon by late Thursday or early Friday.
The second cyclone, "Pepito," was spotted east of Guam on Monday and could enter the PAR before the weekend.
According to PAGASA, it is likely to head towards Bicol or Eastern Visayas.
Furthermore, Nika is expected to weaken further before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday.
“Nika is forecast to continue to weaken for the next days and may become a remnant low over the sea near southern China,” PAGASA stated,
Nevertheless, Nika is likely to remain a severe tropical storm while within the PAR region.
