Subject: The haunting memory of a past love

Every night you always find your way back,
A shadowed figure on a moonlight track.
The nights I thought I’d forget,
You appear, like an old, unspoken regret.

The past grips me like an unforgiving tide,
No matter how far I run, no matter how far I’ve tried.
Was it all just a dream I wish I could reclaim?
Or a memory fading, still calling your name?

Your presence lingers like a ghost in my room,
Your presence fills the air with your subtle perfume.
Why does my heart still ache in the silence of letting you go?
Is it your touch I miss, or the love I used to know?

And in the quiet nights when I close my eyes,
I wonder if the truth is just a disguise.
Were we ever really meant to be?
Or just a passing moment, lost in what could never be?
