Over 110,000 people joined a far-right anti-immigration rally in London, led by Tommy Robinson, a controversial far-right activist, which turned violent after clashes with police on Saturday, September 13.
The march, called “Unite the Kingdom,” became one of the largest far-right demonstrations in British history, drawing thousands of counter-protesters.
Police reported 26 officers injured, including four seriously, after protesters hurled bottles and attacked them while being separated from rival groups.
“At least 25 arrests were made, and that is just the start,” said Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist.
Twist added that the violence showed some demonstrators came not to protest peacefully but to cause harm.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood condemned the clashes, warning that “anyone taking part in criminal activity will face the full force of the law.”
Robinson declared the rally a “show of patriotic unity” while carrying flags of the UK, England, the US, and Israel.
Far-right activists wore MAGA hats and chanted slogans critical of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, emphasizing nationalism, free speech, and opposition to immigration policies.
Counter-protesters organized by the Stand Up to Racism group held signs saying “Refugees welcome” and “Smash the far right,” with left-wing lawmakers accusing Robinson of spreading “dangerous lies” about asylum seekers.
Police deployed 1,600 officers, horses, and riot units, making the event one of the biggest security operations in the UK.
The unrest highlighted deep divisions in Britain over immigration, as far-right groups gain visibility and opposition movements push back strongly.
