The hit song 'Na Para Bang' by Mariah Deborah reached No. 106 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart dated October 24, 2026, marking a milestone for Original Pilipino Music (OPM) as the Filipino singer gains international recognition.
According to ABS-CBN Entertainment, Mariah Deborah is the first female OPM artist to enter the chart. It ranks songs from more than 200 territories, excluding the United States, based on streams and digital sales.
The track is also performing well locally, holding the No. 1 spot on both the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 and Top Philippine Songs charts.
Its success comes from a story many listeners may recognize: developing feelings for a friend but being afraid to risk the friendship.
In an earlier interview with Billboard Philippines, the singer-songwriter shared that the idea came to her while writing the track. She noticed that people around her often used the phrase "Na para bang” in everyday conversations, inspiring her to turn it into a song.
The OPM artist wanted to explore what happens when someone begins to see a friend differently. Admitting those feelings can be difficult, especially when there is a chance that the friendship might change.
She also revealed that the song was inspired by her own experience of developing feelings for someone in her circle of friends. Writing the track helped her express the confusion and fear she felt at the time.
