153 were killed and 133 were injured due to a stampede during the Halloween Celebration in Seoul, South Korea, last Saturday night, October 29, 2022.

The supposed celebration turned into a disaster, and the Itaewon district in Seoul became the graveyard of the 153 people killed after a massive crowd rushed into the event. More or less than 100,000 people rushed into the street for the Halloween celebration, which caused panic for the people and resulted in massive deaths and injuries. The government has already declared a national mourning period after the disaster.

The Seoul Fire Department said in the statement that it is one of the deadliest peacetime accidents in South Korea’s recent history.

The chief of the Yongsan-gu Fire Department, Choi Seong-bum, said, "It was presumed stampede."

On the other hand, the Thai Foreign Ministry stated that "the dead included at least 19 foreign nationals, including people from Iran, Norway, China, and Uzbekistan. One Thai national was among the dead. "

Among those 153 people who died was the 24 years old Korean singer-actor Lee Ji Han, one of the contestants on the reality show Produce 101 (2nd Season).

On Sunday, October 30, at 2 p.m. (South Korean time), more than 3,580 people reported to the city government were still missing.

In the latest report, 90% of the people who died were identified. 10 people can't be identified due to being under age and not having a national ID, while the others came from another country, said the Minister of Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min in a briefing.
