Filipina-American singer, Jessica Sanchez paved her way back as Grand Champion of "American Got Talent" Season 20, delivered her winning song "Golden Hour" by JVKE on Thursday, September 25. at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, USA.
She was 9 months pregnant with her first child as she executed her final performance, and she revealed that she could feel her baby move just as she was about to go to stage.
"She was moving, but then when I was singing, she kind of stood still. So I was like, okay, she's chilling out this time," Jessica said.
Similar to her previous performance in the contest, Jessica once again earned a standing ovation from judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Mel B, and Howie Mandel.
"Just after the song ended, I looked out and saw the judges stand up. I saw the audience stand up cheering, and it just brought me back to season one when I got rejected and I got eliminated, and I was like, wow, I've come so far, and here I am, nine months pregnant with my baby girl," Jessica said.
Jessica first appeared on screen when she was 10 years old, almost 20 years ago, wherein she also auditioned for the first season of 'AGT' and made it to the semifinals.
On her audition, she shared her experience on her first time joining the competition, “I did get eliminated, it was devastating. But it really did help me realize, like I wanna sing. ‘AGT’ was the beginning of that fire sparked inside of me.”
One of her finalist competitors the dance group, Team Recycled, was led by a Germany-based Filipino choreographer Jeff Jimenez, and both Jessica and Team Recycled earned praises from the judges for their final performances.
