Space Exploration Technologies Corporation is registering its business in the Philippines at the moment and it will be the first country in Southeast Asia to use Elon Musk's satellite internet. It is expected to begin operations in the first half of the year.

According to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), SpaceX mentioned that the signing of the amended Public Service Act that also allows for up to 100 percent foreign ownership of public services in the country was a critical factor in their company's decision to invest as all of their technologies are proprietary.

The DTI chief also said that the company is finishing up its initial investment in the country and it is already in the process of choosing gateway locations.

SpaceX will provide internet service in the country through the use of a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network constellation called Starlink.
