Joe's stuck—again, in traffic;

He pleaded for change that's drastic.

"We'll just keep building," they said.

They broadened the roads once more.

Tap this, tap that;

Who decides where to tap?

Bonk! there goes our time: down the drain.

Bonk! the situation got worse when it rains.

Bonk! longer roads, longer pain.

Tsk, tsk! sure, trust the pushover.

We had fallen behind by half a century.

Induced demand is often looked over;

It plagues every road in the country.

The fallen rolled in their graves;

They were smitten by mere incompetence.

"Acknowledge our hardships, you knaves!"

"If only they had some common sense..."

"Carmageddon" etched in his mind.

He pleaded again for someone to answer—

A voice answered to Joe's delight;

"The gridlock will dissipate by summer."

They established new roadways;

Our Joe traversed once more.

And again, in congested roads, he lay.

Urban planners, yet again, ignored.
