The film Goodnight Mommy is a remake of the 2014 Austrian film also titled "Goodnight Mommy". The movie lasts for 1 hour and 31 minutes, and it was distributed on streaming platforms by Amazon Studios. It premiered last September 14, 2022 at the theatres and was released on streaming platforms on September 16, 2022.

Goodnight mommy is a mystery and psychological thriller film directed by Matt Sobel, written by Kyle Warren and produced by Nicolas Brigaud-Robert, Joshua Astrachan, V.J. Guibal, David Kaplan. It was rated R because of its strong language in some parts of the scene. The movie casts were Naomi Watts as Mother, Cameron Crovetti as Elias, Nicholas Crovetti as Lukas, Peter Hermann as Father, Jeremy Bobb as Gary, and Crystal Lucas-Perry as Sandy.

It is a kind of movie that could turn the viewers thinking in their seats, partially out of fear of what is happening on the screen, and partially out of fear of what might be just around the corner—but is it really worth watching?

The film Goodnight Mommy starts when the young twin brothers Elias and Lucas are being dropped off by their father to their famous mother's remote country home. It turns out that Mother had some sort of medical procedure done in secret because her head was entirely wrapped in bandages. That alone is unsettling, but as the children become used to her, they start to notice other unsettling things about her.

Naomi Watts gives a strong lead performance as the Mother in the film yet goodnight mommy's lackluster animation still casts a shadow. The animation in the scene where there was a monster in Elias's dreams was unpleasant in the eye as it looks like a missing cartoon character in a horror movie.

Another thing noticeable was the foreshadowing of Lucas not existing. It is shown a couple of times in the beginning as if Lucas doesn't exist—merely becoming a side character. The beginning of the film shows signs that Lukas is dead and non-existing, but the viewers are so occupied with the mother's actions that the viewers fail to notice it. There's a scene where Elias keeps saying, "Lukas said," or Elias calls out to Lukas but then receives no answer.

The movie effectively conveys the fear of the circumstance because there's fear punching whether the woman is indeed their mother or not or how far the brothers will go to prove their suspicion.

Overall, it can be a one-time-watch favourite as the film has suspense, tension, and the atmosphere it creates will make you think. The film is good to watch when you're into chasing pleasure and excitement derived from seeking something mysterious in a thriller movie.
