The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved the transportation group's petition to increase the fare of public transportation. The statement was released last Friday, September 16, 2022.

In line with this, the minimum fare for the traditional public utility jeepney, or TPUJ, will increase by Php1, making it Php12. For modern PUJ (MPUJ), it will now be Php14.

The LTFRB stated that senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and students' 20 percent discounts will still be effective. Also, the decision release will take place after 15 days of being released in the newspapers.

The above-said decision was the result of a study conducted by its Franchise Planning and Monitoring Division (FPMD).
