The University of the Philippines (UP) announced on September 22, Thursday that it will resume its in-person entrance exam for freshman admission in Academic Year 2024-2025.
On June 3 and 4, 2023, the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT), which the state university had suspended for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be given once again.
The Grade 11 students who will graduate from high school at the end of the academic year 2023–2024 are the ones that are covered by the return of UPCAT. The UPCAT 2024 application will become available in March of next year.
UP made the announcement after the UP President's Advisory Council (PAC) meeting on September 14, at which the resumption of UPCAT was approved.
The COVID-19 situation has continued to present difficulties, prompting the Office of Admissions to previously cancel the UPCAT for the current academic year. If there is no UPCAT, the institution will admit applicants based on their senior high school grades.
Meanwhile, the UP College Admissions (UPCA) application session for the AY 2023–2024 is still open.
