Theme: Internal Conflict
Most of us have struggles we prefer not to talk about,
Though the war against my shadow took a dark, and twisted route;
“I’ll take care of everything, just let me in. We’ll make them pay!”
This part of me is rather sinister, I’d rather he go away.
Within this vessel, there exists a contrast between two identities;
One polite and outgoing, and the other rude and repulsive.
At times, I ponder: It’s my body, but who’s the owner?
Which one am I? One should go—there can’t be another!
In me lies an unforgiving scoundrel with a rotten soul,
Yet despite being selfish and evil, I need him to hold my own.
So much so that, in dire times, I’m left with no other choice.
Though this time it’s different, I hear something; it’s a voice—
“Don’t let him in, or I’ll get mad at you”
This voice—I know who it belongs to!
“Look at me. You have good in you. Be the better person.”
For once, I’m free of his gradual strangulation.
