On December 14, 2022, Bosco Ntaganda who was found guilty and sentenced to a total of 30 years for 18 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity, was transferred to the Leuze-en-Hainaut, a prison in the Kingdom of Belgian.
Bosco Ntaganda allegedly committed 13 counts of war crimes and 5 counts of crimes against humanity, including murder, sexual slavery, rape, and the use of child soldiers in 2002-2003 in the Ituri district of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and was declared guilty on July 8, 2019. The International Criminal Court (ICC) said that the years he spent in ICC detention would be deducted from the total of years he was sentenced to imprisonment.
The ICC said that he was the first person to be convicted of sexual slavery, and that was the longest sentence declared by a court of law.
