National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)’s InSight, tasked to dig deep into Mar’s history, posted a message, along with its potentially last image of the red planet, as it prepared to sign off due to low power, Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

“My power’s really low, so this may be the last image I can send,” read Facebook post on InSight’s account.

“Don’t worry about me though: my time here has been both productive and serene,” it added.

Earlier this year, in May, the spacecraft’s robotic arm was planned to be in its resting position, called the “retirement pose” as its power was gradually diminished and expected to become inoperative this month.

NASA, last month, on November 1, already prepared to bid farewell to the spacecraft as the latter’s “power generation continues to decline as windblown dust on its solar panels thickens.”

InSight, short for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport, was designed to study the inner space of Mars.
