Flickering candle at dusk

Before murder,

In blissful hues, it had basked.

Majestic magenta,

Reign of red,

Overlaid with orange.

The horizon at its splendour,

Until death's peak—

T'was radiant no more.

A monochromatic rock,

Obscured the weapon

From daylight's crack.

In the gray zone where it's detained

It faded—old flame.

Only moonlight so morose remained.

No plucked petals of crimson

Under its sinful sleeve,

Only darkness—its demented prison.

And oh! How it would weep.
