During Holy Week, the Moriones Festival is held in the province of Marinduque. The way Morions wander the city, complete with painted masks, helmets, swords, and Roman costumes, will definelty make the children wish not to see them.

Moriones Festival is one of many festivals that the Philippines has. This festival was said to have started when the father of Mogpog Town, Father Dionisio Santiago, organized it for the first time in the year 1807. To mark Thanksgiving, locals take part in the aforementioned festival.

As interpreted by local folks, this festival presents the story of Longinus in reenactment. He was a blind Roman soldier who was healed by Jesus, becoming one of Jesus' followers before being arrested for his convictions. Every day, his fellow Roman soldier searched for him in an effort to find Longinus. This is the scene of the "Pugutan," in which Longinus will be beheaded.

Marinduque province also holds different Lenten traditions, which have been observed up until now.
