NEW YORK, United States — The longest-running Broadway musical in history Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera,” took their final bow on Sunday, April 16, after 35 years and nearly 14,000 performances.

Webber and the production's original and current cast members took the stage for its final sold-out performance in front of a crowd of 1,600 people.

The Broadway decided to end it’s run after it struggled to recover from the 18-month closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, after previously announcing it’s final date last September.

Adapted from the same-titled French novel by Gaston Leroux, received seven 1988 Tony Awards, including best musical, and on January 9, 2006, it was regarded as the longest-running production in Broadway history.
