MADRID, Spain — 50-year-old Spanish extreme athlete, Beatriz Flamini, came out on Friday, April 14, after spending 500 days of challenge in isolation within a 70-meter cave.

Flamini undertook the challenge two years ago on November 20, 2021, accompanied by her support team, however, Flamini said to not contact her under any circumstances. "If it’s no communication it’s no communication regardless of the circumstances. The people who know me knew and respected that."

"When they came in to get me, I was asleep. I thought something had happened. I said: ‘Already? Surely not.’ I hadn’t finished my book,"

Flamini stated in an interview.

"I don't know what has happened in the world... for me, it is still November 21, 2021."

The Guinness Book of Records has yet to confirm whether Flamini broke the record for the longest period of voluntary cave living or not. The award for "longest time survived trapped underground" is currently given to 33 Chilean and Bolivian miners who spent 69 days at 688 meters trapped in 2010.
