Summer is a season that many students look forward to. It's a time of relaxation, fun, and adventure. However, with the high temperatures that the Philippines is currently experiencing, it's important for students to be aware of the effects of the heat and how to cope with it.

The effects of high temperatures can be detrimental to a student's health. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are just two examples of heat-related illnesses that can occur when the body is unable to regulate its temperature. Symptoms of heat exhaustion include dizziness, nausea, headache, and fatigue, while heat stroke symptoms can include confusion, seizures, and even loss of consciousness. These conditions can be life-threatening if not addressed immediately.

So how can students cope with the scorching heat of summer? Here are some tips:

• Stay Hydrated- Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated. Avoid sugary drinks and alcohol, as they can dehydrate you.

• Stay Indoors During the Hottest Part of the Day- The sun is at its strongest between 10 am and 4 pm, so it's best to stay indoors or in your classroom during this time. If you must be outside, seek shade or wear a hat.

• Take Frequent Breaks- If you're engaging in physical activity, be sure to take frequent breaks to avoid overheating.

• Use a Fan or Air Conditioning- If you have access to a fan or air conditioning, use it to keep your living space cool.

• Eat light, Cool Meals- Avoid heavy, hot meals that can raise your body temperature.

• Keep Your Skin Protected- Apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and wear sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes from the sun's harmful rays.

By following these tips, students can enjoy their summer while staying safe and healthy. Don't let the heat of summer get the best of you. Take the necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated, and enjoy all that this season has to offer.
