Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) completed a fourth-quarter comeback against Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), 61–50, during the Basketball Eliminations Round on October 3, 2026, at the DVA Gymnasium.
STEM and HUMSS battled closely in the first half, with STEM holding a slim 15–14 advantage by the second quarter.
STEM strengthened its hold in the third quarter through timely baskets and strong plays on both ends of the court. With only 15 seconds remaining, STEM maintained a 38–32 lead.
HUMSS came out with renewed intensity in the fourth quarter, turning the tables and taking a 46–43 lead with 5:09 remaining. A succeeding lay-up stretched the advantage to 48–43.
STEM attempted to regain control in the final minutes, but HUMSS continued to convert crucial free throws and baskets to protect its lead. STEM’s late push was not enough to reverse the momentum.
HUMSS sealed the 61–50 victory, while STEM fell short of bouncing back following its previous 58–40 loss to ICT in the Foundation Week basketball eliminations.
