𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦: “Massive fire devastates Manila Central Post Office” by Adrian Jade Francisco

A tremendous fire quickly spread late Sunday, May 21, at the Manila Central Post Office in Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila, causing extensive damage to the historic building and disruption of mail.


In an interview, the  Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) stated that on Sunday, May 21, at 11:41 p.m., the fire broke out at the Manila Central Post Office and was promptly reported, prompting the activation of the initial alarm.


As a result of the massive fire, which caused significant damage, 13 individuals were injured, and assets valued at P300 million were lost. Additionally, the incident had an adverse effect on the delivery of national IDs.


The declared “important cultural property,” the Manila Central Post Office, was originally built in 1926 and has undergone multiple challenges, such as the devastation brought by warfare and previous occurrences of fire.
