The exposure of globalization to the Philippines has been observed for many years. It had become a part of our lives, and it was already normalized in our system as a 'customary' affair. Yet, it was still a common argument between people if globalization is undoubtedly an asset to our country or a handicap to our community.

Globalization, or the act of trading goods and services around the world, has given our country various positive impacts. First, is the ability to import and export our goods, especially our crop and livestock production, aquaculture, fisheries, and more. Followed by goods are the services that we Filipinos had, it may be through our skill that lets us work for another country, letting our abilities ascend and be put into good use.

Furthermore, looking into the lens, globalization also helps us Filipinos share our culture outside our country. With this, foreigners will gain knowledge about us, and mutual understanding will form. As such, we will gain a better understanding of others' cultures, traditions, and norms within their own countries. Allowing friendship and notable relationships to be established, forming peace and respect despite our differences.

In terms of entertainment, it is clear that without globalization, we wouldn't see or hear our international idols' voices—we actually wouldn't even know them at all. No concerts or fan meetings between international artists would be held, and the only entertainment industry we could have encountered would be that of our own country's local artists.

Nevertheless, it is also a lot easier to travel with the help of globalization. We could fly or ride a ship to visit different countries that we like. The intention of also living and staying there is a great option for Filipinos looking for a better opportunity for education, work, and more.

However, people still state that globalization is a handicap as it may result in the unconsumption of our local products– resulting for our farmers, fishermen, and other agricultural sectors in a deflate of job opportunities and success. Additionally, the gap between the poor and the rich increases, as usually in globalization, only large companies have the power to gain big benefits.

Yet, despite the handicap, the assets that globalization brings are still vast. One of them is its aid to our technological advances. It really helps our country to achieve more, improve, and develop as a nation where hate cannot be fostered and love, care, and peace are promoted, applied, and nourished.

Globalization is a means to connect with other people. Letting our country explore and experience its unusual and beneficial effects of it isn't a sin. Mistakes and failures arise because of greed, but through healthy relationships and a positive mindset between our environment and countrymen, globalization would be a great asset to our community. Fear between the unknown is normal, yet for us to grow, we should always be brave to face it and endure all its challenges. Globalization can be an asset and it can be a handicap– it is a double-edged sword. Thus, the wielder of it should acknowledge both of its sides. Where us students, citizens, and government officials, should put it to good use and never abuse its power.
