Theme: Questioning one’s worth.

I’m a flame
That is slowly burning out—
As an insect gently being eaten by heat
As it steadily rises from the lamp’s light.

As though I were trying to raise a vessel made of paper
To avoid sinking.
As an element of perplexity, I try to force myself to fit into everything
But am unable to because of my manner.

As though bouncing off of a broken window,
One may see an area of fresh, deep scars
After gazing at myself for a considerable amount of time.
Furthermore, countless concerns were passing—

A specific concern
Is being looked
For a response to.
Suitability and worth.

How much am I worth?
Only to remind you
That I am here at all—
Where am I really to you?
