Humans, although of different classes,

Experience life in a very similar way:

We all chase the highs that lead to madness—

It is to the five senses in which we must obey.

We live to satisfy each one of our senses,

To taste, to touch, to see, to hear...to smell,

Is it not to these senses that we rely on for bliss?

We are slaves to them; they keep us tamed.

Humans have traversed across oceans for spices,

Humans will cross borders for a person's touch,

Humans will break their backs for mere words—

Humans have a passion for scents, even that of dirt.

By simply believing that after dryness comes rain,

We're taking advantage of the clouds that form,

If rain stopped falling, wouldn't it be such a shame?

We'd be robbing ourselves of our own petrichor.
