I dream of a longer summer.

A longer time to make out with the sun

And with the shadow I've shunned.

Will it all be the same as last summer?

Last summer, I was impetuous.

I accidentally burned my skin.

I was working on my tan.

When my lover called to end everything.

I wailed under the scorching sun.

Last summer, I was bold.

I dared to stare at the sun.

It did stare back into my eyes.

It cleared my vision, so I could see better in the darkness.

Last summer, I experienced death.

I was drowning in my obscurity;

I was suffocated with apprehension.

Everyone was standing on the coast;

I appreciated their perverse gazes of sympathy.

This summer, I'll be living my second life

Under the umbrella of regrets and tears of last summer.

Will the sun be gentle with the frail this time?

Will my soul still end up buried under the sand?
