As Tarasona, M. once stated, "Social media drifts us apart from people as much as it connects us together." A world consumed by screens, these words resonate deeply, urging us to reflect upon the impact of our age. In this article, we delve into the profound message of Tarasona's quote, exploring social media and its potential to shape our mental health.

In our world where connection is just one click away, social media has become a huge part of our lives. It altered the way we interact with each other. Although, among the perfect posts, lies hidden challenges to our mental health. As a part of the Suicide Prevention Month, let us face the stormy seas of problems and we present you a lifeboat of ways to help protect your mental well-being.

It is crucial to acknowledge and discuss this due to its profound impact on our well-being. We consume information. Too much of them, in fact. The prevalence of social media platforms cannot be ignored, spending hours scrolling through feeds and sharing our thoughts can make a big difference in ourselves and society.

𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝘁 (𝗙𝗢𝗠𝗢)

These are the social extroverts who thrive on attention. It is a type of problematic case on social media. Having a fear of missing out is hard to handle because it can cause our anxiety to increase. It often creates a distorted view of reality, and bucking the trend just to showcase their lives [1].

𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

This is an alarming topic of cyberbullying and online harassment eased by social media platforms. Many of us encounter judgments and false criticisms. It can have a huge effect on our social and mental thinking. Most students deal with this kind of struggle, they use social media more often than adults. It has been a wide range of emotional complications, sadness, anxiety, and stress [2].

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀

There are lots of websites that can provide us with some information about guidance in using social media to avoid struggling with our mental health. Moreover, it is our source of absorbing more knowledge and kindness through different platforms [3].

After facing the stormy seas of struggles, there is always a lifeboat that can lead us to a better and more convenient way of dealing with how to use proper media. Put some boundaries in dealing with online media.

Always choose safe online platforms to protect your information and identity. If, in any case, you need someone to talk to about the overwhelming feelings you might have, or that massive emptiness you feel inside, don’t hesitate to call the suicide prevention hotline.
