As the Lyceum of Alabang (LOA) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a captivating declamation contest, the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Strand captured gold as Elisha Margarette Torcelino emerged bright against the other Senior High School representatives from different strands in the Audio Visual Room (AVR) on October 24.

Torcelino of STEM was followed by Andrea Marie Gelarso from Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) as the first runner-up, and Ashley Hannah Almeida from the Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) strand secured the position of the second runner-up.

The competition was indeed a closely fought battle, with each participant showcasing their talents and hard work. However, Torcelino's outstanding enunciation and her ability to convey the essence of the piece, “When I’m Gone,” to the audience made her stand out.

The panel of judges, which consisted of Dr. Anita D. Frisnedi, Mrs. Lolita M. Zaide, and Mrs. Lilia L. Dela Cruz carried out a thorough evaluation of the participants. They considered a comprehensive set of criteria, which included mastery and fluency 30%, interpretation 25%, voice projection 20%, facial expression 15%, and audience impact 10%, for a total of 100%.

These victorious representatives from STEM, ABM and ICT will be formally awarded in the upcoming November 6 during the LOA’s 20th Foundation Week Awarding Ceremony.
