Theme: The struggles of a daughter
I am my father's daughter,
compared to him— I am no better.
as his blood flows through my veins,
we'll forever share this familiar pain.
my fear of failure came from him,
afraid to be judged by society.
focusing on what others might think of me,
with that— none of us will ever be free.
should I be one to get humiliated,
please do not misinterpret.
for I am my father's daughter,
always feeling like an imposter.
I am my mother's daughter,
never enough— never like her.
while her blood flows through my veins,
at the end of the day, I'll still be a disgrace.
my perfectionism came from her,
but trying to be the best might take forever.
"practice makes perfect", they said,
but what shall I do now that I'm exhausted?
should I be one to be a disappointment,
please know that I did my best.
for I am my mother's daughter,
cursed to carry the expectations forever.
