Theme: The purpose of life
Listen to the cries of the caged bird,
how it begs to be freed from the expectations of the world.
Listen to the songs that it sings out loud,
how it begs to be noticed by at least one from the crowd.
Listen to the swoosh of the leaves as the wind carries it to the sky,
how it pleads for someone to notice how hard it tries.
To escape from the fast phasing blow of the air as it cries,
begging for someone to catch it before it dies.
Listen to the repetitive rants of the clock,
never getting the chance to breathe nor stop.
Listen to how it talks about outrunning the time,
but like words in a piece of poetry, they will always rhyme.
Listen to the screams of the scorching sun,
how it shriek as it felt the burning on its palm.
Listen how it begs to be relieved from the pain,
was it at fault, should it be ashamed?
Is this how it's supposed to be?
Despite the situation, it'll still wish to be freed.
Is freedom just a fruit of one's wishful thinking?
Will anyone ever reach his desired ending?
If being alive is to suffer,
then is death any better?
Should I be grateful for experiencing pain,
even after knowing that there's nothing to gain?
