𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦: “Echolalia captures BOTB champ title” by Justine De Guia

Echolalia bested other bands and took the crown as champions at the Battle of the Bands (BOTB) event, organized by the Supreme Student Council (SSC) under the theme “LOAveFest: Himig ng Pag-ibig” on Friday, February 23, at the PDIC Area.

The drummer from Echolalia, Aaron Zach Anzorandia said in an interview, “As [the] battle of the bands champ, 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘥𝘢𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘯 in terms of financially and time management, 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘪 college students 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪, so 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘮𝘨𝘢 responsibilities 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 need 𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘯. 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘰 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭 𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘴𝘢'𝘵-𝘪𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘨-work 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 as a team, not just a band, 𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘯𝘢-form 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 unity 𝘢𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘢 𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘣𝘳𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯. 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘰!"

He also stated that their experience expressed a sincere sense of enjoyment alongside other outstanding performers who demonstrated their songs, noting the impressive versatility shown by them.

One of the Vocalist from Echolalia, Rayhannah Jireh-Ann Paderon said, “Super 𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘢 𝘱𝘰 and unexpected 𝘱𝘰. '𝘋𝘪 𝘱𝘰 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘨-𝘤𝘩𝘢-champion 𝘱𝘰 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪.”

Echolalia is composed of eight members, Reyhannah Jireh-Ann Paderan, Pamela Shane Alarcon, Jervin Perido, Xexer Llaneta as the Vocalists, John Gaylord Mantal as the Guitarist, John Joseph Capungan as the Bassist, Justin Earl Enriquez as the Rhythm Guitarist, and Aaron Zach Anzorandia as the Drummer.

On the other hand, the band Sikhay was placed in 2nd place. The members include Nigel Duanne Mutia as the Vocalist, Reymond Elie Dela Cruz as the Rhythm Guitarist, Nel Christian Cahigas as the Drummer, Paul Harvie Valeza as the Lead Guitarist, and Kurt Llorico as the Bassist. 

Mutia said in an interview, “Actually 𝘢𝘯𝘰 𝘦𝘩, 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘺𝘰 unexpected 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘪 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘪 𝘯𝘢 𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢, 𝘥𝘰𝘴𝘦. So 𝘴𝘢𝘣𝘪 𝘬𝘰 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘺𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘱 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘬 𝘴𝘢 top 3. 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘰 𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘯, thank you 𝘬𝘢𝘺 lord and 𝘴𝘢 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢 𝘬𝘰 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘪 𝘯𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘬𝘢-solid 𝘯𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘴𝘢 top 2.”

Followed by The Broken Strings who went to 3rd place, and the band members include Aljun Joy Gillego as the Vocalist, Vince Ronald Mox as the Lead Guitarist, Harold Matthew Caminto as the Rhythm Guitarist, Benedict Balarusan as the Drummer, Jessie Von Rodriguez as the Bassist, Chelsea Verano as the Pianist/Vocalist, and Jean Mitchell Miguel as the Lead Guitarist/Rhythm Guitarist/Vocalist.

Mox stated, “For sure, 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘪 𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘰 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 '𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘢 strangers 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘴 𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘯, 𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘰 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪. 𝘛𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘴 '𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘨 practice 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯, 𝘯𝘢-feel 𝘬𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘨𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘺 chemistry 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘨𝘢, 𝘣𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘺 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘮 𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘯. 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘰 '𝘥𝘪 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘯-expect 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘰 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘰 thank the Lord.”

Additionally, Bandaraw was awarded the People’s Choice Award. They composed of 5 members including Jaycelyn Naca as the Lead Guitarist/Vocalist, Jhonrey Concha as the Rhythm Guitarist, Alwin Catilo as the Drummer, Geron Delalamon as the Bassist, and Serene Trinity Albayda as the Keyboardist. 

The student Bands, The Broken Strings, Sinkong Anghell, Kwarto Kantos, Kaisan, Takoyaki, The Sinclairs, Robbers, Bandaraw, Instella, and Echolalia perfomed along the event and showcased their distorting melody in the BOTB.
