Category: Poetry
Theme: The feeling of escapism when playing games.

A single click of a mouse brings me to another world,
the start up screen gives me peace,
and I feel myself unfurl
In here I have control, I’m not bound by anything.
In this oasis, I hear my heart sing.

Far from reality, where everything is misery,
although contained within a screen,
in my small world I relish in every victory
for a moment, life is quiet, and filled with serenity.

It may seem cowardly, that i choose to run away,
leaving behind my agony,
but nothing else soothes me quite like my fantasy.

Tomorrow I will face my troubles,
fight my way through the rubble,
but you cannot ask that of me today.
Today, until the dawn,
I am simply Player One.
