Theme: Finally letting go of someone.
And our eyes locked –
for one last time.
And in that wordless exchange,
I'm finally letting you go.
Not by my choice,
not because I want to,
but because I have to.
Finally letting you go –
leaving my heart
torn into pieces,
leaving a love
behind ruined,
leaving a myriad
of choices regretted.
Leaving with all
the memories of you,
that will forever
be engraved in
my heart and mind.
Turning your back
against me,
followed by the
uneasy sound of
your footsteps,
knowing that we
aren't meant
to be together –
I smiled.
and whispered,
"Until then"
