John Amores is facing serious allegations after reportedly firing a gun during an altercation following a basketball game in Lumban, Laguna, on September 25, escalating his already tumultuous career.

Amores and Lee Cacalda allegedly fought after a basketball game in Barangay Salac, escalating as they walked to Barangay Maytalang Uno, where Amores reportedly fired a shot; no injuries occurred, but police are actively searching for him after security footage showed him fleeing on a motorcycle.

After the incident, police began searching for Amores, who was caught on security footage fleeing on a motorcycle. “We are investigating the matter and actively pursuing the suspect,” said a PNP officer involved in the case. Amores had previously been banned for two years by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) after a violent altercation during a JRU vs. College of Saint Benilde game.

For two years, the NCAA wouldn’t let Amores play in any more games after he hit several players during a Jose Rizal University (JRU) game against the College of Saint Benilde.

When NorthPort picked Amores in the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft, his career looked like it was going in the right way. In the 2024 Governors' Cup, he got better by scoring 5.1 points and 1.6 rebounds.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and NorthPort's team administration has not yet issued a statement, raising concerns about Amores' future in the PBA.
