Famous British icon Charli XCX dominated the pop scene during the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, taking home three wins out of eight nominations on Sunday, February 2, in Los Angeles, California.
She won in the categories Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Recording Package for “Brat,” and Best Dance Pop Recording for her hit single, “Von dutch.”
Overall, Charli received a total of 8 nominations in “Album of the Year," “Record of the Year,” “Best Music Video," “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance," and “Best Pop Solo Performance.”
Despite her multiple wins, she did not opt to walk up the stage to accept the award, but one of the producers of Brat, Finn Keane, did.
In a backstage interview with one of her creative directors, Imogen Strauss, she stated, ”Charli didn’t make it [Brat] for the mainstream, she made it because she cared about it and was passionate about it, and it feels really amazing to see the world react to that in a way we never expected.”
Charli also shredded the stage with two of her catchy hit singles, “Guess” and “360” as her closing performance. Accompanying her on the stage were fashion socialites, Alex Consani, Gabriette and Julia Fox.
Singer songwriter Dua Lipa also showed support towards her journey even during the announcement of nominees stating, “She’s so deserving of every moment. It’s so beautiful to see her get the recognition she deserves.”
Her last Grammys appearance was in 2015 where she was nominated along with Iggy Azalea for "Fancy.”
Charli XCX is known for her bold music and her most recognizable album cover for Brat, where many images surfaced online featuring the same design featuring different texts, such as song lyrics and messages.
