Aly Alindayu, a contestant from the dating game series “Pusuan or Laruan,” opened up to the public addressing the flak she received on social media after her viral “Englishera” remark describing the incident as “the worst experience" uploaded via her Instagram account on March 12, 2025.
The original video however, was uploaded way back in September 2024 from Marion Aunor’s channel, that recently surfaced through the internet where many netizens criticized her across multiple social media platforms.
Aly said in the post that the incident heavily affected her wherein she was turned into memes, received hate messages, and even death threats.
She stated, “The hate wasn't even from a few hundred, it was from tens of thousands of people. People who I don't even know made assumptions and defined my character.”
“I have experienced this ever since I was young. I get bullied no matter what language I use,” she added.
In the post, she also clarified that her first language is English despite not having the typical American accent most people expected.
Ian Ramirez, her partner during that time, actually did not mind the “Englishera” remark whatsoever and became real-life friends after the show.
In the end, Aly expressed her gratitude to those who supported and stood up for her despite the hate she received, while also using the opportunity to share her new-found advocacy for anti-bullying.
As of March 2025, the video has garnered over 1.4 million views due to Aly’s “Englishera Girl” and Josh’s “Golden Retriever Boy” remarks that took the internet by storm.
