Adamson University's super rookie, Shaina Nitura, carved her name in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) history charts after a groundbreaking 38-point performance versus the University of the Philippines (UP) in round 1 of the season 87 Women's Volleyball Tournament, as she overtook the Phenom Alyssa Valdez' from Ateneo way back in season 75 and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) season 81 legend Sisi Rondina's 35-point record at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, March 16.

Despite the remarkable effort from Nitura, Adamson suffered defeat against UP's resilience in five sets, 25-15, 15-25, 24-26, 25-22, and 15-10, continuing the losing streak of Adamson and extending their loss to four.

Nitura and Adamson's head coach, JP Yude, went speechless after the game and declined postgame interviews, grieving their loss.

UP head coach Benson Bocboc emphasized that UAAP teams recognized Nitura's capabilities and focused their game plans to counter her strong attack potency.

“Given na yun, na si Nitura, possible talagang she can score that many points,” said Bocboc.

”Doon sa kabila, alam naman natin na siya talaga makakapatay [ng bola], kaya medyo naka-focus nang extra yung defense sa kanya pero lumulusot parin eh,” he added.

Before this historical occurrence, Nitura debuted with an astonishing 33 points against Ateneo on February 16.

UP refined their standings to 3-4 after their first-round victory, overthrowing Adamson down the standings, 2-5.
