Get ready to return to the swamp as “Shrek 5” is officially on its way, with Zendaya joining the cast as Shrek’s teenage daughter, Felicia, in the highly anticipated sequel set to arrive in theaters in December 2026.
Universal Pictures dropped the first teaser for the highly anticipated sequel on Friday, February 28, and it is packed with familiar faces and a surprising new addition.
Mike Myers is also back as the beloved ogre Shrek, alongside Cameron Diaz as his wife Fiona and Eddie Murphy as the hilarious Donkey.
But this time, the swamp is getting a dose of teenage angst with the arrival of Zendaya, who will voice Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter.
The teaser features Shrek and Donkey “scrolling” through a magic mirror, which is displaying a series of selfies and videos of Shrek showcasing his physique.
The pair scream in horror at the sight of their own vanity, drawing the attention of Fiona, Felicia, and Pinocchio.
This playful scene gives us a first look at the dynamic between the family, hinting at some hilarious interactions to come.
Universal Pictures also reshared a 2017 tweet from Zendaya herself, where she admitted to “Watching Shrek too often in my adulthood," while the caption for the reshared tweet reads, “This aged well.”
Fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of the iconic ogre, and the addition of Zendaya as his teenage daughter is sure to add a new layer of humor and charm to the franchise.
With the cast confirmed and the release date announced, the countdown to "Shrek 5" is officially on.
